Cenotes
(Optional Add-on)

For anyone who is interested in diving the cenotes of the Mexican mainland, we will offer an additional add-on of 1 or 2 days of diving near Playa del Carmen.

Ancient Mayans believed that the cenotes were the gateway to the underworld. Each cenote is different, and the incredible underwater sights include stalactites, stalagmites, fossils, ancient Mayan pottery, unique wildlife, and much more. In some cenotes, we can surface during the dive to see a bat cave or tree roots from the jungle above.

Since these are not cave dives, cenotes are suitable for open water certified divers. The dive operator will provide a full-cave certified instructor to lead each small group of no more than 4 divers. We will take a short ferry from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen. The operator will provide transportation and lunch, with at least 2 cenote dives per day.

The Yucatan's cenotes are truly a wonder not to be missed. If you are interested in adding a day or two of diving this area, please mark it on your booking form. Click here to see a video of Dos Ojos, one of the most popular cenotes.
